About

Familia Development Center was born out of a calling to live out the Good News of hope through service and to participate in the work of God’s Kingdom within our communities.

After more than a decade of pastoral ministry and community outreach in the Denver metropolitan area, Pastor José and Pastor Fany Gómez began to recognize a growing need among the families God had placed in their path. Many arrived in our community with little more than faith, determination, and the hope of building a better future for their children. Yet too often they encountered systems that were difficult to navigate and lacked the compassion, guidance, and dignity every person deserves as someone created in the image of God.

As pastors, José and Fany believe that the message of the Gospel is not only meant to be proclaimed, but also demonstrated through acts of compassion, justice, and restoration. The Church is called to reflect the heart of Christ in the world—serving as His hands and feet and bringing hope to those who are facing hardship or uncertainty.

Through José’s professional experience working in the legal field and community outreach, he witnessed firsthand how many vulnerable families struggled to navigate complex systems that were often overwhelming and difficult to access. Many families simply needed someone willing to walk alongside them, advocate for them, and guide them toward the resources that could help stabilize their lives.

Out of this conviction and calling, Familia Development Center was established.

Our Values

We do not serve out of charity. We serve out of deep respect and shared humanity.

Dignity First

Every person carries inherent worth. We meet each family with respect, compassion, and cultural sensitivity—always.

Trust Takes Time

We build relationships before offering solutions. Our work begins with listening and walking alongside.

Community Over Control

Our goal is not to “fix” people. It is to equip and empower them through trusted partnerships and wraparound care.

Stewardship with Integrity

We are committed to financial transparency and responsible leadership. Resources go where they are needed most—into the lives of families.

Faith in Action

Our faith informs our work—not with conditions, but with open arms. We believe loving our neighbor is a calling worth our lives.

Why We Exist

Today, Familia Development Center exists as an expression of faith in action and Kingdom service, working to support low-income families, immigrants, legal asylum seekers, and their children with compassion, practical resources, and community support. Our mission is to walk alongside families during some of life’s most difficult transitions, helping them move from crisis toward stability, opportunity, and long-term well-being.

Through resource navigation, housing stabilization assistance, workforce readiness support, family-centered services, and strong partnerships with churches and community organizations, we strive to bring practical help and renewed hope to the families we serve.

At the heart of our work is a biblical conviction: every person bears the image of God and therefore deserves dignity, compassion, and the opportunity to flourish.

We believe that when the people of God serve their communities with humility, love, and integrity, they participate in the ongoing work of God’s Kingdom—bringing restoration where there has been brokenness and hope where there has been despair.

Familia Development Center seeks to steward this calling faithfully by serving families with excellence, building meaningful partnerships, and helping strengthen communities for generations to come.

Our prayer is that through this work, families will experience not only practical support, but also the encouragement and dignity that allow them to rebuild their lives and pursue a hopeful future.
